Catfish Tank at the Harvey County Fair

Friday, August 4, 2017 - 2:45pm to Saturday, August 5, 2017 - 7:00pm

This is a FREE event, brought to you by Fishing's Future, the Kansas Dept of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism, Harvey County Parks Department, and the Harvey County Fair.

If you are between the ages of 6 and 16 and have never caught a fish this event is for you.  Even if you have caught a fish you are still welcome and catch another.  Fishing's Future has loaned Harvey County Parks their 4000 gallon portable tank which the parks department will setup at the Harvey County Fair.  The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism will be providing over a 100 catfish for the tank.  Using cane poles kids will be get to try to catch a catfish.  On Friday, the fish that are caught will be returned to the tank.  On Saturday, they will be put into Sand Creek.  You could call it a delayed stocking.  Once in Sand Creek anyone with a license can catch and keep them as long as they don't over the limit. This is the closest thing to "shooting fish in a barrel" that I have ever been involved with and should be a real treat for the youngsters.
