Christiana "Chrissy" Dijkman was born in the Netherlands and lived in several countries as a child including Germany, Belgium, Libya, and Venezuela before settling in the US for high school. Chrissy attended Texas A & M University and obtained her law degree from the University of Houston (J.D., magna cum laude with honors, 1992).
She is a Partner in the Houston based law firm of Phillips & Akers and practices Civil Trial Law in the Rio Grande Valley.
Chrissy has always been concerned about the aquatic environment and when her daughter was born in 2007, she became more concerned about the legacy we are leaving behind for our children. When Shane Wilson introduced her to Fishing’s Future, Chrissy was honored to join an organization whose mission includes introducing and connecting kids to nature; and increasing awareness for the protection and conservation of our precious natural aquatic world.
Chrissy resides on the island paradise of South Padre Island, Texas and is an avid scuba diver and surfer (she and her husband, Kerry Schwartz, own Island Native Surf House on SPI). Chrissy, Kerry and their daughter Kenna share their Island home with two resident rescued dogs, a rescued cat, and various foster dogs and cats.
