The Sixth Graders from Halstead Kansas Middle School wil becoming out to Harvey County West Park to celebrate Earth Day.
Half the class will spend the morning with Park Ranger/Naturalist Carol Dilts on the nature trail. They will learn about the wildlife and plants that inhabit the park as they walk through the trails. Then they will then meet Carol's bull snake, tarantula, and great horned owl.
The other half will spend the morning with Park Ranger/Fishing's Future Master Angler Stuart Scott. They will learn ethics and fishing rules, environmental stewardship, fish id, knots, and casting. Then they will head to the lake and try to catch some fish.
After lunch the two rangers will switch groups.
