Lytle, Texas Chapter
Hi Junior Anglers! My name is Connie and as you can see I am a very serious angler. No fish ever gets away from me! "I let em back though after I catch em". My fishing pole is the BEST one ever and no fish has ever got away either. Well, one did one time but that is because I let him. He did "NOT" get away I'm telling you, he didn't. I let him get away on purpose.
Kids - When I was your age my parents took me to Maine camping many, many times. I lived in N.J. back then. Daddy took me fishing almost every day we were camping and I guess that is where I started to get my great love of fishing and the outdoors. Actually, as a Girl Scout I earned many "Outdoor Badges"; my love of the outdoors just kept increasing as I got older.
After High School I joined the Army and then on to college to major in Biography. A High School Biology teacher teaching Environmental and Aquatic Science - WOW, I had made it... I was doing just exactly what I was wanting to be doing. I was enjoying my job as a teacher and really enjoying what I was teaching.
I am now retired and volunteer in the education program at Mitchell Lake Audubon Center in San Antonio and the Outdoor Classroom program at Cibolo Nature Center in Boerne. I am also the Saturday Kids Club Coordinator at the Cibolo Nature Center. It just doesn't get any better and I'm passing on my love of nature to "You", the next generation.
Being a Master Angler is just awesome and I just love being around children and their parents having fun being together enjoying the sport of fishing. I know it's because of all the "great" memories and all of the fun and enjoyment I carry of being with my Dad while fishing. He made it fun and to this day there is nothing more exciting than watching kids explore nature.
I feel the best way I can thank my parents is by passing on the gift that they gave me.....the gift of the outdoors.
I look forward to seeing you at a Kid's Fish Camp!
Connie Petruskevich P.S. - Don't worry about trying to pronounce my last name, I'll say it a couple times when I see you at a KFC so just call me Connie...and oh, by-the-way, the fishing pole you see in the picture "Well, call it a reflection of the fun I have fishing.
Connie
